How the proof of job search efforts works

Anyone receiving Swiss unemployment benefits (and already during the notice period) must show their RAV advisor enough good-quality job applications every month. The required number is set in your personal agreement — typically 10 to 12 per month.

  • The number comes from your agreement with the RAV — ask your advisor if unsure.
  • Log every application immediately: date, company, position, application method, outcome.
  • Hand in the proof by the 5th of the following month at the latest — earlier is always fine.
  • Keep copies and confirmations in case the RAV asks for evidence.

Note

Independent free tool by ApplyCH — not an official RAV or SECO template. Your RAV's instructions take precedence. Everything you type stays local in your browser; no data is sent to any server.

Frequently asked questions

How many job applications does the RAV require per month?

The number is set individually in the agreement with your advisor — typically 10 to 12 applications per month. Important: the obligation already starts during your notice period, before you register with the RAV.

When do I have to submit the proof?

The proof must reach your RAV by the 5th of the following month at the latest. You can also hand it in earlier, for example in the last days of the current month.

What counts as a job search effort?

Written and online applications, applying in person, phone applications and spontaneous applications. Quality matters: complete applications for suitable, reasonable positions.

What happens if I have too few applications?

The RAV can impose suspension days (Einstelltage) — you lose your daily allowance for a number of days. Talk to your advisor early if you cannot reach the target in a given month.

Do I have to use the official form or job-room.ch?

This tool fills the official SECO form 'Nachweis der persönlichen Arbeitsbemühungen' (716.007) directly — the document most RAV offices ask for. Many cantons also let you record your efforts online on job-room.ch. Your advisor's instructions are what counts.
