Your monthly job-search obligation

While you receive unemployment benefit, your RAV expects a fixed number of documented job applications every month — usually between 8 and 12, agreed with your personal counsellor depending on your situation and the local job market. These efforts (Arbeitsbemühungen) must be handed in by the last day of each month, even during your notice period before unemployment officially begins.

  • Agree the target number of applications with your counsellor at your first meeting.
  • Count spontaneous applications, replies to adverts, phone enquiries and applications via agencies — each one needs a date, the company and the outcome.
  • Submit your proof by the last day of the month; late or missing proof can lead to a reduction in benefit (Einstelltage).
  • Keep going during your notice period — efforts made before your first day of unemployment also count.

How proof of job-search efforts works

The official proof form is the Stellennachweis (FR: preuves de recherches d'emploi, IT: prova delle ricerche). You can submit it on paper or electronically through job-room.ch. For each application you record the date, the company and address, the role, how you applied (electronic, post, in person or phone) and the result. Most counsellors prefer the electronic form because it is faster to review.

  1. Save each job the moment you find it, with the company name, address and the posting link.
  2. Record how and when you applied, and update the result when you hear back.
  3. At the end of the month, transfer every application onto the Stellennachweis and submit it on job-room.ch.
  4. Keep copies of your applications — your counsellor may ask to see them.

Frequently asked questions

How many job applications do I need each month for the RAV in Brugg?

Most jobseekers agree on 8 to 12 documented applications per month with their personal counsellor. The exact figure depends on your profession, your availability and the situation on the local job market. Your counsellor sets and reviews this target with you.

How do I submit my proof of job-search efforts?

You hand in the Stellennachweis by the last day of each month, either on paper at your office or electronically via job-room.ch. Each application needs the date, company, role, method and result. ApplyCH can fill the electronic form for you from the jobs you saved.

Do I have to apply for jobs before I am officially unemployed?

Yes. You must start your job search as soon as you are given notice, and the efforts you make during your notice period count towards your first months. Registering with the RAV early protects your benefit.

What happens if I miss the monthly deadline?

Insufficient or late job-search efforts can lead to suspension days (Einstelltage), during which no benefit is paid. Talk to your counsellor as early as possible if you cannot meet the target so the situation can be assessed fairly.

Is ApplyCH connected to the RAV or job-room.ch?

No. ApplyCH is an independent Chrome extension that helps you write applications and fill the official forms faster. It is not affiliated with the RAV, ORP, URC, SECO or job-room.ch, and nothing is submitted without your review.

Office details are provided for your convenience and may change. Always confirm address, opening hours and procedures on the official cantonal page before visiting. ApplyCH is an independent product and is not affiliated with the RAV/ORP/URC, SECO or any Swiss government agency.
